• Canción de U2, perteneciente a su obra maestra The Joshua Tree, y también a las recopilatorias de The Best of 1980-1990 y U218 Singles.
• La canción hizo su debut en el segundo show de la gira “The Joshua Tree” el 4 de Abril de 1987 en Tempe Arizona.
• El sencillo se convirtió en la primera canción de U2 en ser No.1 en Billboard’s Hot 100 chart y fue elegida como Mejor Sencillo por los lectores de la revista Rolling Stone en 1987.

Solo de The Edge (guitarrista de U2)
Al final de la canción With or Without You (minuto 4:08), se puede escuchar un solo de guitarra. Este solo es muy famoso y según el guitarrista de la banda conocido como The Edge, el objetivo del solo de guitarra es cambiarle un poco la cara melancólica a la canción y terminarla con un final mas alegre.
En el tiempo en que se realizó la canción, la tendencia era el “shred metal” donde en los solos se escuchaba una guitarra muy rápida. Sin embargo en With or Without You, al contrario de lo que ocurría en ese momento, el solo de guitarra se daba de forma relajada o “chilled out”. Según The Edge esto ocurría porque el no trataba de imponer el sonido de la guitarra sino mas bien se enfocaba en el ambiente que esta creaba. Por esto mismo, el guitarrista escogió este solo como su parte favorita de todo el álbum The Joshua Tree.
